Revised June 3, 2008
1. RACE SEASON
1.
The race season shall be comprised of a series of regular season
events scheduled by Venue Development, Inc. (VDI). A minimum of nine
regular season PRL race events will be scheduled.
2.
Each regular season race
event will have two PRL scheduled races. The event trophies will be awarded
on the total points earned for the weekend. The total points will be a
combination of both Saturday and Sunday event points plus qualifying, bonus
and sponsor points. If there is a tie in a position the tie will be
broken by the driver with the best qualifying time and will be classified as
winner of event. Finals may have a different format.
3.
The National Points
Championship awards will be determined by the best five events in the
regular season plus Finals. In the event of a tie, the person who has
been to more events will be named the winner, if there is still a tie, the
National Champion will be determined by the results of the Finals event.
4.
Trophies will be given to the first three finishers based on the
total points of the regular season weekend per class. No trophies will be
given if there are not three cars in the class.
2. DEFINITION OF RACES
·
GT-1, GT-C, GT-MC, GT-4, GT-6
and GT-8+
o
Qualifying – A single
qualifying session will be held to determine the starting positions for both
races. The session may be divided to provide adequate spacing for
competitors.
o
Secondary Race – Will be 20 to
30 minutes in length and the grid will be determined by the qualifying
positions.
o
Feature Race – This race can be
held either the first or second day as determined by VDI. It will be 40 to
50 minutes in length. Cars will grid in an inverted order of their
qualifying positions. If only one race is held, the grid will be determined
by qualifying order and be inverted.
3. POINTS SYSTEM
1.
Sponsor points will be
assigned for each sponsored product utilized. An appropriate decal for each
sponsored product utilized must be displayed on the race car for sponsor
points to be awarded. These points will be added to the results of the
feature race for cars that make the starting grid. Changes to the sponsor
points must be made within seven (7) days of the results being posted on web
site. No changes after that time. There may be no changes in Sponsor
Points at Finals.
2.
Bonus points are given to reward participation.
3. Renegade Cup -
The Renegade Cup is a trophy that rewards the driver that accumulates the
most points in the season. The car must display the Renegade decal on both
sides to be eligible. The trophy will be presented at Finals and will be a
perpetual trophy.
4. A drivers
meeting will be held prior to each race. Every driver is required to attend
and crew chiefs are highly recommended. If a driver misses the drivers
meeting roll call, they will start in the back of the grid for the next
race. The PRL reserves the right to cancel or change the driver’s meeting
time. Every attempt will be made to inform all drivers through
announcements and personal visits if a change is necessary. Official roll
call will take place within five minutes of the race meeting time.
5.
Each driver will accumulate points based on performance in a maximum
of five regular season events plus Finals.
-
A driver may participate in as many events as are scheduled, however,
only results from the driver's best five events and Finals will be
counted in the National Points Championship. Note that an event is
defined as an entire race weekend rather than a single race within a
race weekend. Therefore, if a driver wants to throw out an event from
the point’s totals, the entire event must be thrown out rather than one
of the races for that event.
-
If a driver attends more than five regular season races they shall
receive 10 bonus points for each event above five. It is total PRL
events attended for the season and not class dependent.
-
Failure to make minimum weight at the
completion of a race will result in loss of all points for that race.
-
All races will be worth equal value.
-
More than 50% of the race laps must be completed in each day’s race to
receive points for that race. If the driver is disqualified due to
having 3 spins or off track excursions race points will be awarded only
if more than 50% of the laps have been completed prior to the 3rd
spin or excursion. If the race is an odd number of laps the 50% will be
one lap less. i.e. 11 lap race – 5 laps completed is 50%
-
Trophies for the event will be given by class finish in each race, plus
qualifying, plus sponsor points. This total will determine the podium
finishes. Any penalties will be issued within two weeks of the posted
results. The Stewards of the Meet will review all tape and meet to
review and determine the penalties. Penalties may include loss of
points (either event or season), probation, suspension and / or fine.
6.
The secondary race of each event shall award 150, 140, 130, 120, 110,
100 and three (3) point less per position from there on down.
-
Qualifying for the secondary race of each event shall award 25, 15, 7,
5, and 3 points for qualifying times 1 through 5, respectively per
class.
-
Qualifying points will be issued to the driver only if they meet the
race requirements, i.e. meet minimum weight requirements and otherwise
pass technical inspection.
-
Gridding will be by qualifying times.
-
If qualifying has not occurred cars will be gridded by the National
Points Standings to date. In the event of equal positions in the
National Points Standings to date the Chief Steward will determine the
starting grid order among the equal positions. No Qualifying points will
be issued.
7.
The feature race of each event shall award 150, 140, 130, 120, 110,
100 and three (3) points less per position from there on down.
-
There will be NO qualifying for the feature race.
-
The cars will be gridded in inverted order by the qualifying time of the
previous day.
-
If qualifying has not occurred they will be inverted based on National
Points Standings to date. In the event of equal positions in the
National Points Standings to date the Chief Steward will determine the
starting grid order among the equal positions.
8.
In the event of inclement weather, a race event may have only one
race. In this case, points for the one race that was run shall be awarded
as follows: 300, 280, 260, 240, 220, 200 and six (6) points less per
position from there on down.
-
In this case, the top 5 qualifiers will be awarded 25, 15, 7, 5, and 3
point, respectively per class.
-
Gridding will be assigned by the results of the qualifying session. If
qualifying has not occurred they will be inverted based on the National
Point’s Standings to date. In the event of equal positions in the
National Points Standings to date the Chief Steward will determine the
starting grid order among the equal positions. No Qualifying points will
be issued.
9.
The two races that make up the Finals race event will award 150, 140,
130, 120, 110, 100 and (6) points less per position from there on down for
each race and will be part of the total points for the season. If only one
race is run, the points will be double for that race.
-
The top 5 qualifying times at the Finals
shall be awarded 25, 15, 7, 5 or 3 points respectively.
-
Gridding will be the same format as
other events.
10.
At the Finals race event each driver that qualifies and makes the
starting grid will receive 25 points. This is different from the regular
season race events.
11.
Any driver who does a burn out, hole shot or donuts on hot pit row or
the race track will receive a thirty-five (35) point’s penalty for that
event.
12.
After Qualifying ALL cars will go to the scales for weigh in. Failure
to go directly to the scales will result in a 10 point reduction in race
points for that event.
13.
The driver will be shown a “Scale” placard and they must proceed
directly to the scales. Failure to go to scales when requested will result
in a 15 point penalty for that race.
4. FURTHER RULES
1.
Disqualification – A rules infraction will
cost the driver all his points for that race. Drivers below in finish will
move up to fill the voided position and be awarded points accordingly.
2.
Protests must be filed in accordance with
the PRL 2008 Rules and Regulations Section 6.6
3.
The logbook must be available to the VDI Technical inspection
representative at all required technical inspections or at any time
requested. Failure to present a logbook will result in a replacement
logbook being purchased for $25.00.
4.
Trophies might not be available at the event earned due to late
entries.
5.
Refunds will not be given,
for any reason, if the cancellation is less than seven days before the event.
Those entry fees will be moved to a future event within that season and
there will be a transfer fee of $75.00 and catering costs for event.
6.
No refund or credit towards another
event will be given if you crash or have a mechanical issue that does not
allow you to complete the weekend.
